Mr. Blue Sky

Jeff Lynne finally gets the recognition he deserves. Thirteen years after he honored George Harrison at the 2004 Rock Hall induction ceremony, the four founding members of ELO, Jeff Lynne, Bev Bevan, Richard Tandy, and Roy Wood, became inductees as well. A reconstituted — and massive — ELO performed “Evil Woman” and “Mr. Blue Sky” [4:23] at the ceremony, held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. The audience was wowed.

Dhani Harrison inducted the band into the hall and gave a really heartfelt induction speech, where he recounted seeing ELO at age 7 with his dad.  It was his first rock show, and George performed with the band. The young Dhani imagined Jeff to be some sort of extraterrestrial wizard captain of an intergalactic orchestra. And he explained the mystery of the sunglasses. 🙂
